Zap Data Hub – Check whether the gateway is running

Confirm the Data Gateway service is installed and running on the gateway machine when data is not processing

When you should check the gateway

You may need to check your gateway if:

  • Data is not processing

  • A connection test fails

  • Sync jobs are not running

  • The server hosting the gateway may have issues

The gateway must be running on the server where it was originally installed.

How to check the gateway machine

If you're not sure which machine hosts the gateway:

  1. Log in to Zap Data Hub.

  2. Click the settings cog at the top of the screen.

  3. Select Data gateways.

  4. Review the listed gateway to see which server it is installed on.

Make sure that server has internet access and is functioning normally.

How to check if the Data Gateway service is running

Once you know the correct machine, follow these steps:

1. Open the Services list

  1. On the gateway server, press Windows key + R to open the Run command.

  2. Type services.msc and select OK.

2. Locate the Data Gateway service

  1. Scroll through the list of services.

  2. Find the service named Data Gateway.

  3. Check its status:

    • If it is not running, start it.

    • If it is running, right‑click and select Restart.

Restarting the service resolves most gateway connection issues.

Test the connection in Zap Data Hub

After confirming the gateway service is running:

  1. Log in to Zap Data Hub on the same machine that hosts the gateway.

  2. Click the ellipsis icon (top-left).

  3. Open Resource Explorer.

  4. Expand the Access HandiSoft Solution folder.

  5. Double‑click Access HandiSoft Solution to open it in a new tab.

Process the model to test the connection

  1. In the new tab, select Process model.

  2. Keep the default settings.

  3. Click Process to begin the sync.

Leave the server running overnight to allow the synchronisation process to complete if this is the first run or if a large volume of data needs updating.
