Zap Data Hub - Compare the Average Timesheet Rates report

Compare the Zap Data Hub Average Timesheet Rates report with the Time+Billing WIP Ledger Entries report using activity-based filtering.

You can verify the figures in the Zap Data Hub Average Timesheet Rates report by generating a matching report in Time+Billing and calculating the average rate manually in Excel. Follow the steps below to set up the comparison.


Open the WIP Ledger Entries report

  1. In Time+Billing, go to Reports.

  2. Select WIP Ledger, then click WIP Ledger Entries Report.


Configure the report

  1. Set Report type to Activity.

  2. Select a single activity code.

📌Note: Any valid activity code can be selected.


Add a WIP filter

  1. Click Add filters.

  2. In the Select report filters window, click the ellipsis (…) next to WIP filter.

  3. Locate and highlight the filter called WIP For Cost Code '200'.

  4. Click Copy.


Create a new custom filter

  1. Give the filter a name that includes your required cost code.

  2. Click Save.

🤓Tip: Name the filter to match the cost code you are reporting on — for example, WIP For Cost Code 101.


Edit the filter expression

  1. Highlight the filter you just created, then click Edit.

  2. Update the cost code in the filter expression so it matches your new filter name.

  3. Click Save.

  4. Select the new filter, then click OK.


Generate the report

Time+Billing will now generate the report using your updated WIP filter.


Export the report to Excel

  1. Click File, then click Export to Excel.

  2. Open the exported spreadsheet.


Calculate the average timesheet rate

To calculate the average rate in Excel:

  1. Add up all rate values in the exported data.

  2. Divide the total by the number of rows.

The result is the average rate, which you can compare directly against the Average Timesheet Rates report in Zap Data Hub.
